Pacific Hills is grateful to continue building a concert series that welcomes both our congregation and the wider Omaha community into our sanctuary for meaningful, high-quality musical experiences. Through these concerts, we hope to feature organists, pianists, vocalists, and other talented musicians in programs that are open to the public and offered without admission. These are in addition to and separate from our Summer Courtyard Jazz Series.
Our goal is to establish at least one concert each fall and spring, with the hope of expanding as funding allows. These events provide more than a performance. They offer a free cultural opportunity for neighbors, friends, families, and church members to gather, hear excellent music, and enjoy fellowship together.
In previous years, a typical concert cost approximately $500 for the artist, plus around $50 for a post-concert reception. Freewill offerings generally provide about $200 per concert, leaving much of the expense to be covered elsewhere. Looking ahead, we would like to move toward artist honoraria of at least $750, plus necessary travel and lodging costs. Even that remains below the usual cost of bringing accomplished musicians to Omaha. Many well-known organists who would draw a large crowd to PHLC cost $3,000 or more, plus travel and accommodations.
We are thankful for our partnership with the Nebraska Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, which supports organ concerts when possible. Their assistance, however, cannot cover every program because of limits on the amount of support available to a single church each year./>Those who value this ministry may wish to make a designated contribution to the Concert Series Fund.
