As we approach Reformation Sunday, it is the perfect time to reflect on our love for music, just as Martin Luther frequently did.
Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.
Music is a gift from God and touches each of us in different ways at different times. Sometimes it is a piece that connects you with a beloved memory, other times it is a piece that consoles you in times of sorrow. Whichever it may be, music is a personal therapy for each and every one of us, even if we don't realize it. So I ask you, the next time we are singing together in church, reflect on what that hymn means to you. How do the lyrics speak to you? How does the melody make you feel? Do any memories come to mind?
Music is one of the many gifts from God and I am honored to share this gift with each of you every Sunday!
