Our Lutheran Beliefs

Pacific Hills Lutheran Church, in true Lutheran fashion, accepts the Scriptures as God's Word and the norm of our life and faith.

We preach Christ crucified (1 Corinthians 1:23)

We accept the 3 Ecumenical Creeds
(The Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed)
and the Lutheran Confessions as a true exposition of God's Word.

We preach Law and Gospel, and rejoice in the hope the Gospel (which pronounces us righteous in God's sight) gives us.

For a summary of our teaching, please see Luther's Small Catechism and The Augsburg Confession.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty
maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost
born of the Virgin Mary
suffered under Pontius Pilate
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
