LOEWE'S AFRICAN NEWSLETTER August 2005 Dear Prayer Partners, Wow, what a life God has us living here in
Update time: my sisters have stood up well under the pressure of handling mom's funeral. Please keep them in your prayers.
Jerry’s dad has joined his mom in the assisted living center in Wisner. They occupy the same room my mom had, when she lived there before she moved into the nursing home side of the center. My sister,
David writes about our grandson Ian: Ian is doing well. Additional physical side effects from Chemotherapy are beginning to emerge, but he continues to receive divine strength to remain emotionally solid. It continues to be difficult to avoid the typical kid summer activities, but fortunately he enjoys computer software and his Nintendo Game cube. On Monday [8 Aug], we go back to Children's Hospital for his Triple Chemo Treatment. We hope to be back by Saturday. Please pray for elevated courage and strength through these difficult hospital stays. If you would like to see pictures there is a web site at: photo at http://www.andyring.com/ian)
Jerry mentioned Ed and Wilma Rupprecht last month-remember the bats? J Well, on the next trip to fix their house Ed and Wilma and long term volunteer, 74 year old, missionary Ron Lange, had a head on collision with a car that passed on a curve. God in His grace spared their lives using seat belts, air bags, a newer Four Runner Toyota and His power. All four occupants of the other car did not survive. Brent Friedrich’s house, here on the compound, was turned into an infirmary and the healing began. Wilma has a cast on her right foot all the way to her knee and had dislocated toes put back into the proper location this week. Ed has broken ribs that still keep him sleeping upright in a dentist chair with mosquito netting all around. That is definitely a sight to see. J Ron is walking on egg shells to keep from jarring his many aches and bruises. When God sends his people to the field to do His will they go away from their loving caring families, who would be there for them in a time like this. Well, it was awesome to witness the ‘family’ of missionaries on two compounds that God used to provide the 24 hour loving care that was needed for all three. There were Nigerian staff men, that helped with the house cleaning and laundry of the missionaries, who spent the nights so they could rest during the day. There were crisis counselors that ministered to them too. Praise God for His love. Your prayers make a big difference in our lives.
May God protect you and keep you safe for the evil one trying to hassle you. Stay strong in His word. We need each of you praying to keep us safe from harm. We love you.
Hugging you in Jesus, LCMS Missionaries, Jerry and Carol Loewe
