From Pastor Bill Moorhead: I was born on June 12, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, and presented by my parents for baptism on July 27, 1947. We moved to Kansas from Burlington, Iowa, in 1951 and to Lawrence, KS, in 1955, where I was confirmed in 1960. I graduated from Lawrence High in 1965 and began my college years that fall at St. John's Lutheran Junior College in Winfield, Kansas, then entered Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, from which I graduated in 1969. I married Martha Evalyn Beery, my high school sweetheart, on June 22, 1969. Over the years in Omaha I have been privileged to serve various community organizations. Presently, these include the Sertoma Club of Omaha, the Omaha Mayor's Clergy Advisory Board, and Lutheran Youth Encounter, a national youth ministry organization based in St. Paul, MN. In 2004 I was honored to be elected as a delegate to the LCMS National Convention. I was recently appointed by our synodical president to a special Blue Ribbon Task Force on Synod Structure and Governance. I have also written extensively for our publishing house, Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis.
In the course of working toward the Master's Degree it became clear that God had other plans in store, and Matt entered Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 2005. Upon graduation, Matt received his first call as associate pastor to Pacific Hills Lutheran in 2009. Rev. Matthew L. Schneider Associate Pastor |
